My Embarrassing Moment For Chris

Chris, I had this video finished last week on M's new laptop, then the power cord died, after two hours with tech support, they sent out a new cord. It came this evening and I was so relieved that fixed the problem. After I powered her laptop on and found the video I had made I couldn't get it to load to youtube from her laptop, so I dumped it on a memory card, brought it down to the hole (aka my office), loaded it to WMM and converted it, voila!! This should prove how much I love you if you didn't already know.

Well my laptop is crapped out atm without a power cord so that means no FL Studio, no NOTHING. The desktop runs linux as well and if you dont know, linux needs this thing called Wine to install windows programs so... last night I finally got wine without the internet, installed just the demo of FL Studio and without my synths and everything else and the save project feature disabled I slapped this song together. Since the xbox was broken I had nothing else to do but listen to Storm Trax EP once again, or make a song. So yeah... :D Some random jump\hardjump\wtf song. :D

If you are having Toshiba laptop issues then maybe I can help. Many things can and do go wrong with today's modern laptops and Toshiba laptops are no different, but one problem keeps cropping up.

Many people are reporting that their Toshiba laptop just will not boot up properly, you turn it on expecting it to boot up normally but you are left with a black screen with a cursor in the top left corner.

Do not panic as this is easily sorted and I will tell you how:-

The following may be able to help you with your Toshiba laptop issues

1. Make sure that your laptop is turned off.

2. Go ahead and disconnect every wire and cable including the power cable.

3. Take out the laptop battery.

4. Insert the power cable back in to the laptop making sure the battery has been removed.

5. Turn the power on and the screen should work and choose to start windows normally if given the option.

6. Go to Control Panel -then- (Mobile PC) -then- Power Options -then- Under Balanced, choose change plan settings.

7. Choose to change advanced power settings.

8. Under processor power management change the minimum processor state from 5% - 100% for both ON BATTERY and PLUGGED IN.

9. Go ahead and click apply then OK.

10. Shut down your laptop and disconnect the power cord.

Then your free to reinstall the battery, plug in the power cord and re-start the laptop.

This should solve your Toshiba laptop issues and will now boot up properly.

PC Or Laptop Will Not Power On

Desktop Computer

If your desktop computer isn't powering on there is a few things you can check before you go out and buy a new Power Supply. If all of these fail, try getting a new Power Supply to see if it solves your problem. If it doesn't then contact your manufacturer.

* Make sure the power cable from the computer to the AC outlet is plugged in at both ends.
* Make sure the monitor's power cable is also plugged in and the monitor is turned on.
* If the computer is plugged into a power strip or surge protector, make sure the light is on and it is powered on.
* Check that the AC power from the wall is working. Try plugging something else into the socket instead of the computer. If there's no power, check for a blown fuse or circuit breaker.
* Look for an on/off switch on the computer's power supply and make sure it is flipped on.
* Try a different power cord.

Laptop Computer

A laptop may not power on due to a bad battery or an AC adapter. Try these things and see if it helps. If none of them help, you may need to replace your battery or AC adapter.

* If you're trying to run a laptop on battery power and it doesn't power on, make sure that a battery is in the battery compartment.
* If the battery is in place, try connecting the AC adapter. If that solves the problem, recharge or replace the battery.
* Make sure the AC adapter securely plugged into the computer and into the wall outlet.
* If the computer doesn't work or the battery doesn't charge when the AC adapter is plugged in try plugging in the AC adapter with the battery out. If you get no power then you probably need to replace the AC adapter.

If the AC adapter powers up the laptop but does not charge the battery then you should replace your battery. Check the manufacturer or a local store.

The size of the cyst can also be dependent on your normal daily activities. For instance, using the affected joints more will result in more fluid retention. Although the cyst itself may not produce pain, the fluid inside can put pressure on the surrounding soft tissue and nerve fibers. This can result in weakness, tingling, numbness or pain-like sensation.

Your doctor may perform test and lab work to help diagnose your symptoms. These measures can include an examination, x ray, aspiration, ultrasound and MRI. Most cysts do not require treatment; however, if the cyst is causing pain or affecting normal joint mobility, your doctor may suggest some treatment such as immobilization of the joint, aspiration of the fluid or possibly surgery to remove the ganglion cyst.

You can also take measures to prevent discomfort around the affected areas by reducing any repetitive movement in your hands and feet. Also, limit activities that exacerbate the pain and symptoms.

What to Do When Your Computer Won't Turn On

Troubleshooting a computer that seems to be unresponsive or unable to power up can seem a daunting task. The key to fixing computers is essentially the process of elimination. The following tips can help determine why a computer appears to be dead or fails to power up.

Obviously, one of the first things to check is whether live power is available at the wall outlet or other power source. Pull out the computer power cord and plug in a lamp, radio or other simple device. If the device used for testing works fine then move on to the computer power cord.
Ensure that the power cord is firmly plugged in to the power source and the power supply on the back of the computer. Computer power cords are for the most part standard across almost all major manufacturers. This should allow for the use and testing of an alternate power cord from your monitor or another available computer. A power cord issue is easily ruled out if the computer still does not power up.
In addition to the power button typically located on the front bezel of most computers, there may also be a power switch located on the power supply. Verify that it is in the on position. If no status lights are displayed after pressing the power button or if you do not hear the fans startup then there may be an issue with the power supply itself.
Open up the computer and check to ensure that all power supply connectors are firmly seated on the motherboard and connected peripherals. Some manufacturers include a power status light on their motherboards that remain lit even when the computer is off. Laptop Shuts Off - Where Should the Laptop Sit

Where should the laptop sit is a question I often receive. The main thing with modern laptop computers is to sit them where there is little chance for the AC cord to be pulled on while the laptop is plugged in. If the cord has been yanked on and you have a laptop that keeps shutting itself off, you want to begin by determining how soon it shuts off after you power it up. In this article I will focus on the situation of a laptop shutting itself off before it completes POST. This basically means that the laptop will shut off within just a few seconds of being turned on.

First of all, is the laptop running on AC power, and is the battery currently installed in the computer? If the battery is installed and the computer is plugged into the AC power source, remove the battery and try to boot the computer. If the laptop still shuts itself off, reinstall the battery and try to boot the computer with the power cord unplugged from the laptop itself. If the computer completes POST and boots into the OS, then you have determined that the battery is not the likely culprit here.

The idea is to determine whether the issue is with the battery or the AC power adapter. I have often found that if the AC power adapter is the culprit, then verification of which component is required. For instance is the cord leading from the power brick damaged? Often times it may have been chewed by a pet, or somehow something pinched through the insulation. Is the power brick itself ok? Usually there will be a light on the brick which will allow me to see that is receiving electricity as designed.

Once we have made our way from the wall outlet to the power jack on the back of the laptop computer, we now make the BIG inspection. Is the jack damaged, bent, loose or in some rare cases missing all together? If any of these apply, then your laptop will need a fairly expensive jack replacement, or jack repair job. This will involve completely dismantling the laptop and replacing the power jack which is soldered directly to the laptop motherboard.

To avoid a laptop that keeps shutting off, your laptop should sit in a location which will have little chance of the power cord being yanked on.
