This laptop also supports Verizon Mobile Broadband as an option and supports Bluetooth technology with stunning wireless reception and transmission speed. The Bluetooth was standard, and so was the A2DP.

Keyboard and Mouse:

The keyboard on the VGN-Z890 is unique to most laptop keyboards. The keys are not flushed together, and are spaced out. There are 82 keys, all of which are coated. The keyboard uses aluminum backing, which keeps the laptop light and durable. Although it is not indicated, the touchpad allows side scrolling as well.

Battery:

When running the Mobile Mark 2007 Battery Test on the standard battery we received very acceptable scores. We were able to reach a battery life of 4 hours and 2 minutes with the GeForce card enabled. With the Intel integrated graphics, we achieved a battery life 4 hours and 55 minutes.

Conclusion:

Overall we were very pleased the Sony Vaio VGN-Z890. It is one of the fastest mobile laptops for its weight-class and size. We were extremely pleased with the keyboard and design. This laptop was very similar to its predecessor, and we had to dock points for that. Due to the fact that this laptop is still an excellent choice for executive, and travelers, I rate it a 4.25/5.

Online email services - No need to utilize your local internet service provider for an email address. Use a free service like Gmail.

Documents and Spreadsheets - Again, you can use Google's Documents feature. You can create and upload spreadsheets, PDFs, text documents, and even images. Open Office is another great free tool. It requires a download though.

Faxing - We use faxing so little these days, it's a pain to have to pay a monthly service. You can utilize a service like Fax Zero to do all of your faxing for free.

Phone and Video Conferencing - Tap into the free program Skype to handle all of your phone and video conferencing needs. Computer to computer calls are free. Even if you call land lines, it's pretty cheap.

How to Install Desktop Memory on Your Desktop

Many PC owners are anxious at the mere thought of opening their computer case and fiddling with the components inside. Some resist the notion entirely and instead throw money away paying technicians to perform simple installations. Those people would be surprised to discover just how simple these tasks, such as installing memory on a desktop computer, can be.

The first order of business is to determine if the computer has available memory slots. If it does, the next task is to determine the type of memory used by that motherboard. This information is available online through the computer manufacturer's web site. In addition, large online memory sellers have web tools available to walk customers through determining the type of memory they require

Once you have the necessary memory, power down your computer. Unplug by removing the power cord from the computer case rather than from the surge protector. Then remove all additional connected cords and lay the case down in an open working area. Ensure that the side panel that opens is face up and then remove it.

Take care to avoid static charges by grounding yourself. This can be achieved using relatively inexpensive anti-static wristbands or by simply remaining in contact with a metal aspect of the chassis. In small cases, access to the memory slots may be blocked by cards or wiring. Gently remove any cards or move aside wiring in order to have unobstructed access to the memory slots.

Hold the memory between your thumb and forefingers at the sides of the module. Ensure that the wide, metal-coated or notched side is facing down and orientated in the same manner as the installed memory modules. Press the memory into the slot. You will need to press some memory in at slight angle, favoring one side first. Be firm but apply even pressure.

The memory module should pop into place. The retaining or side clips may have drawn flush with the sides of the module as you inserted it. Other styles require that you draw them in manually. Once you have ensured that the retaining clips are locked in, tug gently on the memory module to ensure that it is locked in place. There should be no movement.

Finally, replace any components removed or wires moved inside. At this point, it is best to leave the cover off. Reconnect only the necessary components, such as monitor, keyboard and mouse, and power cord. If your computer powers up and properly recognizes the memory then you are finished. You can now power down again, replace the cover, reattach all components, and start your computer normally.

Random Marbletris Runs

I felt like recording something so I started up Marbletris and started playing. The first run is terrible, but I included it because I saved myself by hitting the wall. The second is an OOB run that I included because I caught the gem with the SS (though it's not really that hard to do). The third is an actual ok run of 9.30. I could have gone lower by jumping and then using SJ, but I wasn't really trying to do well. btw it took me 3 tries to upload this. Once the computer ran out of battery while uploading, and the second time the laptop put itself to sleep after a time because the power cord wasn't plugged in.

The MacBook Air From Apple

The MacBook Air was first introduced in January 2008. The most striking feature is its slender Aluminium unibody casing that measures just 0.76 inches at its thickest point. At launch it was claimed by Apple to be the thinnest notebook available, a title which has since been taken by the Dell Adamo. Other notable competition in this segment are the HP Voodoo Envy 133 and Lenovo Thinkpad X301.

MacBook Air review

The MacBook Air has a 13.3" LCD display and is available in two models, one with a 1.86GHz Intel Core 2 Duo processor and 120GB SATA hard drive and the other with a 2.13GHz Core 2 Duo processor with a 128GB solid state drive (SSD). Both models have 2GB of RAM, an nVidia 9400M graphics chip, built in Wi-Fi and an integrated webcam above the screen. A Mini DisplayPort connection allow an external monitor to be added. Other innovative features include the large track pad that allows you to use iPhone actions (such as swiping, pinching and rotating) and the MagSafe magnetic power cord that allows the cable to easily break free from the MacBook if snagged or tripped over.

MacBook Air specification

Several standard notebook features had to be omitted from the MacBook Air specification in order to achieve the devices required size and weight. The most notable omission is the DVD drive where the user has to either purchase an external unit or use Apple's Remote Disc software which allows wireless access to another computers optical drive. The FireWire port, Ethernet port, line-in socket, memory card reader, all but one USB port and the Kensington security lock slot are all missing from the specification. The Air also only has a single mono speaker. As with the MacBook Pro, the battery is non-removable being sealed into the casing. A final limitation is the RAM which is soldered onto the motherboard rendering it non-removable and therefore not upgradeable.

MacBook Air battery life

Thanks to its smaller dimensions and hence lack of free space the MacBook Air has a shorter battery life than a regular MacBook. Apple claim five hours use on a single charge, although try finding this information on their site! Independent tests have revealed a real world use of between three and four hours on a charge. In our opinion this is still an impressive feature, beating many PC based laptops in this area.

MacBook Air or MacBook Pro

Whether the MacBook Air will suit you really depends on how you use your computer. Due to its lack of ports and absence of a DVD drive a free MacBook Pro might be the better choice thanks to its full range of features and longer battery life. We also happen to think that the unibody MacBook Pro's are better looking than the Air, which seems a little dated to us. We would even go as far to say that the Air will probably prove a frustration over long term use, mainly because of the specification omissions and shorter battery life.
